On Sunday, September 28, 2014 of Rockville, MD. Beloved wife of the late Anton Y. Calis; mother of Fr. Joseph, Emily, Karim (Maria) Calis and Lavinia (Emil) Sidawy; grandmother of Andrew, Angelina, Isabella, Natalie and Anthony; sister of Afifeh, Solomon, Georgette, Suad and the late Stella, Mary, Linda and John; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD (Valet Parking) Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 10103 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Dear Father Calis--I had the pleasure and privilege of knowing your mother when I taught at Children's Hospital. She was without question the cornerstone of the psychiatry department, keeping the residents and fellows on track year after year and making everything she did appear effortless. I'll always remember her beautiful outfits with coordinating shoes and jewelry, and how she'd say that she was "praising the Lord with color". What a beautiful woman, inside and out. I'm so sorry for your loss.
