I just learned of Lionel's passing. I have many wonderful memories of converations with Lionel during the years I worked at the courthouse in Fairfax. He always talked about his family and his love and devotion were evident. I will always also remember his love of animals and I recall many funny and touching stories he told about his beloved pets. My deepest condolences to all of you.
My thoughts and prayers have been with your family for the last 25 years and will continue through this difficult time. Ann, you were a very special person to me and helped me through a very difficult time in my life and my thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your family.

The Richmond family has been a part of my life for 50 years. Our families sent a lot of time together. Many summer vacations were spent together, with many fun and happy memories. Lionel being very much apart of them. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Lionel will be greatly missed.
May you all be comforted by the expressions love and support of friends and family. I am thinking of you all.
A fathers biggest joy is his family and your family brought your dad all of that and so much more.
He effortlessly exuded the sincerest warmth and generosity. He carried himself with a presumption of equality to any and all and graciously assumed the same in any and all. He spoke his mind at all times--and at times quite colorfully-- but without guile or rancor. The tears in my eyes flow from my happiness at having possessed his friendship. Dictionaries could more easily define "gentleman" by simply stating: See Lionel Richmond. His greatest success is found in the smiles of his children.
Uncle Lionel was always entertaining and I truly enjoyed seeking him out at a family or social get together because he would pull out the best stories and we were certain to discuss something "unique". Uncle Lionel was around my Mom and her brother and sister a lot in their youth and she continues to tell great stories with U Lionel of course in the center of it - a hoot at all ages of
his wonderful life. God's strength to the family and all his
numerous friends at this difficult time. ...
To Anne, Cathy, Ross, Dana, Jenny - and your families,
My sympathy, thoughts and love go out to all of the Richmonds. I have great memories of your home in Cave Creek where Lionel was hospitable and so tolerant of my constant presence. May your best memories ease your loss.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Find peace knowing he's in a better place and will look down on you and protect you. Angels are hard to find and I'm sure he will be one of the best God has ever had.
To many, my father was "a character," but to me he was the greatest dad a girl could have. I will miss him forever but his love will be with me until eternity. Whenever I eat peanut butter or lemon cake, pet a dog or compliment a stranger's child, I will think of Dad. Dad had a wonderful life because he had the love of his family . . . and nothing is better than that.
