Hi Andi, I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Purple's passing. He was the topic of conversation yesterday with my father, George Arnold and our good friend Wilda Dear. We had a lot of GREAT Mr. Purple stories. I enjoyed working under his leadership as the receptionist at the Bendix Aerospace headquarters in Rosslyn. May God bless and keep you.

Andi - I was so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. I had hoped to get to South Carolina to see you both, but never traveled in that direction. Although it was a long time ago, I still remember the visits to the lake house when I was a kid. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

There are so many good memories from my years working at Bendix Aerospace with you, Andi, and Bill and all of the other dear people I consider family members. I think most of us thought of Bendix Aerospace as family - not a corporation. Bill will be missed by all - and my prayers and sympathy are with you, Andi.

There are only a handfull of people who we can say genuinely influenced our lives and Bill was certainly one of those. He gave me more than my share of opportunity and I only hope I was able to meet his expectation. Our hearts and prayers go to you Dear Andi and your entire family. God Bless.

Andi,

Our deepest and sincerest condolences...I will never forget the day that Bill found a four leaf clover for me! (unless he carries a tube of glue in his pocket)

As you know our favorite color is purple and every year for the last 16 years we think of both of you as we hand make our purple xmas cards. A tradition that will never go away.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the huge family....

LOVE...Daryl & Lesley

On a business meeting in Japan, Mr. Purple was in a skyscraper overlooking the city. The sun had not yet come up for the morning as his team were taking their seats in the meeting room. The Japanese leaders they were meeting with said to Bill to sit facing the city so he could have the best seat In the house overlooking Japan. The witty Bill knowing the sun would be in his eyes told the leader, "No I insist, this is your building and I'm not going to take your best seats." The Japanese leader, to avoid looking foolish, sat facing the city and as the sun rose it started to blind him. This put Bill in control of the meeting and he was able to negotiate what he wanted.

Best story I've heard in life. Thanks for the memories.

An outstanding corporate leader and an outstanding all around man. Will always be my model for what a leader should be.

One of my favorite persons. We enjoyed debating about anything -- and you really had to be sharp to compete with Bill. I enjoyed our years working together on Washington Technology and with the Purples in ARCS. Carole and I will send a donation to ARCS in Bill's honor.

In 1979 I was sent to Arlington VA to be interviewed by Frank Geldert and Bill Purple as part of the "vetting process"to be hired at Bendix IMO.
I was fortunate enough to pass muster with Bill and thus be privilged to work at Bendix Aerospace/Allied and be exposed to the breadth, clarity and tough mindedness of his thinking. I also learned of his kindness and compassion. He had great impact on my life ..I'm saddened at his passing.

Bill's death ends a wonderful Bendix era for many of us who had the privilege of working for him. My prayers and thoughts are with Andi and his entire family at this time of loss.
