ELLEN M. MANN
On Monday, August 26, 2013, at the age of 70, Ellen passed peacefully at home in Sherwood Forest, MD. She was a cancer survivor since 1996. Beloved wife of Jack Mann for 41 years; mother of John (Carolina), Kevin, Kate and Michael; grandmother of John Eugenio and Nora Ellen; sister of Barbara Flaherty (Tom) of Reading, MA and Michael Connor (Trish) of Wayne, PA. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday, on August 28, 7 to 9 p.m. and at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, 900 North Capitol Street NW, Washington, DC, on Thursday, August 29, at 5 p.m. where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Interment Private. Jack, John and Carolina, Kevin, Kate and Michael:
It is a little over 2 weeks since you lost your wife, your mother and I, my sister. The emptiness for all of us is such a void in our hearts.
Through these long days we have all heard so many warm and loving stories about Ellen and her gentleness and beautiful smile. It does help lessen our pain a bit and it reminds us of how lucky we were to have her in our lives. Love to you all, Barbara

Dear Kate and Mr. Mann, I recently heard that Ellen had died. Although I am grateful she is no longer suffering, I know you must miss her terribly. Most of my contact with Ellen occurred while Kate and Clare were at HolyCross . Kate, I remember your mother as always being calm and collected with a smile on her face. Ellen was the most amazing Aunt anyone could ever have. When I look back over my life and the all the different important events, I will be forever grateful for the memories of her being there for them. Even through the past 17 years of fighting cancer, she still made sure she was a part of your life. I will miss that beautiful smile, the sparkle in her eyes and all our wonderful talks. Thank you for making such a wonderful impact on my life. I will love you forever!

I met Ellen when I was 12yrs old. My best friend, Kit, proudly introduced her big brother and his wife to me. I thought they were the coolest big brother and sister. It was the sixties and Ellen was so very "mod" in her "shades". Through the years, my friend proudly reported on Jack & Ellen's growing family. Ellen was a role model for my friend Kit; she honored her brother Jack and his beloved wife Ellen during the years by sharing stories of their family with me. I visited Jack and Ellen last year and Ellen was just as I had remembered, poised and very friendly. Jack, on the other hand, well, his "shades" had not changed since the '60's .
