On Thursday, October 4, 2012, of Silver Spring, MD, Priest of the Archdiocese of Washington. Beloved son of the late Mary Schellenberg and Wayne A. Pollard; brother of Mary P. (Thomas L.) Samsel and the late Margaret P. Kuhn and James W. Pollard. Also survived by nephews Patrick T. and Brian L Samsel and niece Courtenay K. Samsel. Relatives and friends may call at St. John the Evangelist-Clinton, 8910 Old Branch Ave., Clinton, MD, on Wednesday, October 10, from 3 to 7 p.m. where a Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist-Clinton, 8910 Old Branch Ave., Clinton, MD, on Thursday, October 11, at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

I was raised catholic, received the sacrements and attended catholic school. However, as an adult I strayed from the church. Fr. Pollard helped me believe my faith again, for which I am grateful.

We will remember the many wonderful sermons you gave at mass over the years. You had a way of personally relating the readings to our everyday normal lives -- which made mass so much more meaningful. We know you are in heaven with your beloved mother. May you enjoy God's peace and happiness there always.

Fr. Pollard will long be remembered by many of us at St John's in Clinton. I will always remember his work with RCIA and the Perish Council. I am sorry not to be able to attend his funeral Mass as I am deployed overseas. May he rest in peace.
