I met Ben in a Waffle House near the Johnson Space Center. He and several other celebrities had their lemo parked out front. They were down in the Clear Lake area promoting a boat race over the weekend. He was the most cordial of the bunch! He saw my NASA badge and we were in the middle of an Apollo mission. He wanted to talk all about the space program and I wanted to talk football! So sad to hear the news about his passing. I truly believe he was a "gentle man", kind hearted and sincere. I wish time would have allowed us to talk longer. God be with his family and the many friends mourning his death.
