With tears, I was devastated to learn of the passing of Dr. O'Neil this week after receiving the letter from her husband. I considered her to be a friend and not just a doctor. She treated me for years (2004 or 5) and she was simply the best. She was warm, friendly, and had a wonderful sense of humor. We enjoyed many talks about family, work, and holiday plans. She helped me through a very difficult period in my life when I lost my job. Her compassion towards me can never be measured. As an African American female, I was told I should see other African American dermatogens. They were wrong. Dr. O'Neil was by far the best choice I could have ever made after visiting some other doctors. On my last visit to her office last December she shared pictures of her son, and talked about how long she had waited for him. She was so happy, and it made me happy for her, because she certainly deserved it. It was clear to me that she loved her family. I am so glad our paths in live crossed, and I shall never ever forget her. I offer my deepest sympathy and prayers to her husband, son, and family, especially her sister that I spoke with one time in her office over the phone. I loved her and will miss her.
