James L. Carpenter  (Age 75)  
On Wednesday, November 1, 2017, of Kensington, MD. Beloved husband of Victoria M. Bell; beloved brother of Cathy Cowden and the late Adrian R. Carpenter (Irene); beloved uncle of Thomas R. Carpenter (Jennifer Bramlett), James D. Carpenter (Margaret Colman), Julia Carpenter, Laura C. McArdle (John E.) and the late David Cowden. Also survived by eight great-nieces and nephews. Also survived by many strong, longstanding friendships with members of the Chesapeake and Allegheny Steam Preservation Society (CALS), Baltimore, MD and other friendships he cultivated and treasured. Relatives and friends are invited for a 2 p.m. Gathering of Prayer and Remembrance, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Holy Redeemer Church, Holy Family Chapel, 9705 Summit Avenue, Kensington, MD. Burial will be private at National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Audubon Naturalist Society, Chevy Chase, MD, the CALS train club or Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.www.colllinsfuneralhome.com
