James Marino, Jr.
Passed away Saturday August 22, 2015. Jim was born in Pittsfield, MA on February 3, 1938. He was the son of the late James and Domenica (nee Petruzella) Marino. After graduation from Pittsfield High School in 1955, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, until his honorable discharge in 1958. He was married in 1966 to the former Margot U. Ladwig, in Switzerland, after which they made Fairfax, Virginia their home. Jim retired from the U.S. Department of State in 2001, after 40 years of service overseas and in the US. After retirement he received a B.A. degree in history from George Mason University, worked briefly at NOVA Community College in Annandale, where he also pursued German Language studies. He was also involved in various volunteer services of the County of Fairfax, such as teaching ESL and serving as election officer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margot. Other survivors include a brother in Massachusetts, a niece with three children in California, three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law and their children in Germany. He also leaves behind two beloved furry companions, Seymour and Miss Kitty. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10 a.m. at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA. Jim was my cousin and I remember him fondly as a warm, gentle, sweet man. My heartfelt condolence goes out to you Margot. Sending blessings and prayers.

Jimmy was a very caring person, thoughtful and soft spoken. He is remembered fondly especially from the very early years of our childhood and the summer on Esther Terrace in Pittsfield, Masachusetts. Go with God cousin Jim.
