JESSICA L. DAVENPORT (Age 36)
On Monday, January 4, 2016, of Berwyn Heights, MD. Beloved wife of Mathew Melcher; mother of Matilda and Junia Melcher; daughter of Daniel and Nina Davenport of Lynchburg, VA.; sister of Shelley Davis, Ariana Stitzer and Susannah Davenport, all of Pittsburgh, PA and Ethan, Taylor, Owen and Laurie Davenport, all of Lynchburg, VA; granddaughter of Dorothy Davenport. Also survived by three nieces and two nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Holy Redeemer Church, Berwyn Rd & 49th Avenue, College Park, MD, on Friday, January 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Graveside service and interment at Emmanuel Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Hall, PA on Saturday, January 9 at 11 a.m. www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

Jessica Davenport taught me how to run and by doing so, she taught me so much more than that. She gave me an outlet for my emotions, showed me how to feel free and powerful and demonstrated that stereotypes can always be changed just by one individual's drive and determination. I will always remember her as the runner who looked like a gazelle when she ran...the world never held her down.
