JOHN BLAKE MURPHY "Sean" "JB"  
Of Kensington, MD, on March 19, 2015. A second-generation native Washingtonian, JB was born to Richard A. Murphy, originally from Baltimore, and Honoria Louise (Clark) Murphy of Washington, DC on February 10, 1922. He was their youngest son after older siblings, Mary L., Richard A., and James M., all of whom predeceased him. JB attended Gonzaga High School and Catholic University. He was a public service architect, serving as the first county architect for Montgomery County for eight years and subsequently for 20 years as supervising architect for the Smithsonian Institution. In retirement, he was the first resident architect for the National Building Museum during its restoration and operation. His loving wife, Dorothy Anne, and beloved son, Blake Patrick, preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter, Kerry Ann of Rockville, MD; dear devoted companion and caregiver, Helen Ann Carter of Kensington, MD; daughter of the heart, Stephanie Smilay of Takoma Park, MD; and hordes of nieces and nephews of unknown location. Requiem service and ceremonial inurnment will be private for immediate family. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite bartender.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com
