Hey John, Family, and his enormous circle of friends, just wanted you to know, though I'm sure you do, that not only on this day do I think of you, but on so many days. It used to give me pause to reflect why, but not anymore, just why in so many different circumstances, good, bad, happy sad, not just in the last 8 plus years but also in the 30 plus years since you left the prep and our paths took their course, that I think of you and the subtle, valuable, lessons you taught the unteachable (me) just by your example; never with boisterous words, just by un-waivering example of you doing the right thing no matter how easy it would've been to not. In fact, I can't ever recall you raising your voice or losing your cool even in the most crazy of circumstances. You were an everyday hero in how you always did the right thing, practiced the right way, always did your best, always put in the time when nobody was watching - and encouraged, but never pushed others (especially me) to just try doing a little extra. So, my fellow new jersey commuter to the Prep, teammate and friend, I take great pride in relating stories of you and what a hero you are. I still can completely feel how my spirit was shaken and what disbelief I had when I first heard. Then, somehow I thought of Frost's "Natures First Green is Gold" and I took comfort in knowing that you will, truly, always be Gold. Thank you for everything you probably never even knew.
