On Saturday, March 12, 2016, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Virginia Baker Gist; father of Carole L. Gist and the late Raymond J. Gist; grandfather of Jedidiah "Jed" Gist; brother of Robert Gist (Helen) of Union, SC and the late James Gist, Alice Barnett, Willie Neal Vinson and Mary Voiselle. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Friday, March 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service at Grace Lutheran Church, 4300 16th Street NW, Washington, DC 20011 on Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. We remember so many times seeing John and Virginia working in their garden and to our amazement, not realizing their age. We will forever cherish the many conversations had with John about his yard, and love for his family. We will miss John.
Our prayer for comfort and strength are with you, Virginia and Carole.
