JOHN T. MONAHAN (Age 90)
On Sunday, February 26, 2017, of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of the late Margaret D. Monahan; father of Michael J. (Therese) Monahan, Molly Monahan (Scott) Perry, William (Anne) Monahan, and John V. (Susan) Monahan; grandfather of Thomas, Michael Patrick, Anna, Katie, Maggie, Cammie, Matthew, and Kelly; brother of Tess Monahan of Pottsville, PA. While serving in the US Navy during World War II, he earned the Pacific and American Theater Ribbons and the Victory Medal. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernadette's Church, 72 University Blvd. East, Silver Spring, MD, on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

To the Monahan Family,
It was with great sorrow that I read of the loss of Cousin Jack Monahan. Actually, my mother, Anna Bambrick Hornung, was his first cousin. I am a second cousin to his four children. Jack was a great help to me when I was researching the Fleming family. I looked forward to the notes in his Christmas cards, St. Patrick's Day cards, etc. with his humorous remarks. He was always so proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. There were also his comments on the Redskins. Please accept my sincere condolences. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
