JOSEPH JOHN WALSH (Age 91)
On Sunday, April 15, 2018, of Bethesda, MD. Joseph Walsh passed away peacefully in the early hours of April 15, 2018 after a brief illness at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Catherine Walsh and his brother Daniel. He is survived by this wife of 67 years Nancy, his 10 children, Susan and husband Jim, Kevin and wife Paula, Timothy, Terrence and wife Tisha, Matthew and wife Jennifer, Mark and wife Jean, Brian, Joanne, Patrick, and Mary, grandchildren Carly, Kirsten, Kevin, Brandon, Leif, Nate, Alyssa, and Jenna, and his sisters Honora and Ellen. Joseph was a loving and devoted husband and father who lived in the Washington, DC area his entire life. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bethesda since 1960. He attended Gonzaga High School and was one of the founding members of the charitable organization the "Gonzaga 44 Club". He served in the Navy during WWII and graduated from Catholic University with an engineering degree. Joseph supported his large family with his real estate company his entire working career dealing mainly in commercial properties and land development. Joseph was an avid sports fan, especially of the local teams including the Redskins, Capitals, Nationals, and Maryland Terrapins. He also enjoyed gardening and was a talented handyman when things needed fixing around the house. He was always willing to help out when it was needed and he was the one his family turned to when advice and guidance was needed. He will always be missed but never away from our hearts. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes, 7500 Pearl St., Bethesda, MD, 20814 on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
