LAWRENCE THOMAS SMEDLEY
(Age 86) On Wednesday, December 9, 2015, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Carmen Smedley; father of Lori, Bob, Larry and Rick Smedley. Also survived by twelve grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday, December 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel at Riderwood Village, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD, on Thursday, December 17 at 11 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22312, www.diabetes.org.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

I never had the opportunity to know Lawrence but I know his son Bob. If Bob is any reflection of Mr. Smedley's legacy: he has left in Grand style! Please accept my sympathies to the family.

I was privileged to work with Larry when I was an intern at the AFL-CIO in the Social Security Department. He was always kind and generous with his time and always demonstrated dedication to working people.
