I was married to a relative of Mary. My daughter and I stayed with her in Washington and we met at family events and again when her son installed an art piece in Orlando. She was sweet, welcoming and fun. I miss her. I wish she knew that my little daugher became a college math professor.

I got to know Mary when she took bridge lessons. Her razor-sharp mind was seldom intimidating; it probed political issues, not personalities. One regret: I never got an account of her trip to Cuba.

During my tenure with the I Have A Dream Foundation, a group of us worked under her and affectionaly called her "Coach". She had ageless energy and always gave her best for the common good of others. She made a tremendous impact on the lives of many - mind included.

Spending time bicycling with Mary at the Great Marsh was an inspiration--that she was ready, game and able to do so up until a year or so ago. She was wonderful to be with and we shared conversations over world affairs, nature, and many a good laugh.
We will miss our times together in Woods Hole so very much. Her life is a celebration of her warmth and caring.
Our sympathies to the entire family.

Mary remains one of the most remarkable people (who happened to be a woman!) I've ever known, and she was always coming up with something new and different. She offered clever insights into just about anything her mind turned to, and had an occasionally wicked sense of humor. Spending time with her and with Wis was indeed a pleasure. Best wishes to her family, both personal and professional.

I Worked with Mary at W.O.W. where she made work fun in the midst of challenges. She and I kept in touch over the years and became good friends. I was awed by her determination and success in remaining useful despite her age. I will not forget her. Janet McKee

Mrs. Janney was a loving and perceptive woman. May God Bless her.

Thank you, Ms. Janney for all your wonderful contributions to civic life and mentoring so many young women. With gratitude and loving respect, Marcia K.

Mary was a truly remarkable woman and I feel privileged to have known her. She will be missed by many of us in the Woods Hole/Falmouth community.
