A very dear friend whom I respect a lot. He accepted to help me in the beginning of my research career without knowing me. It is an honor for me to have publications with you Dear Max Paape. May God bless you

Max Paape, distinguished scientist and great human being. I have been blessed with the honor of working under your supervision during my PhD stay at USDA-ARS in 1999. It has passed a while since then, but I still remember your kind spirit and great character. Absolutely saddened to hear the news. Max is in my thoughts forever. My sincere condolences to the family during this difficult time.

Dearest Sue, I am saddened to learn of Max's death, and I send you my deepest sympathies. Although I cannot be there with you today, you and all your beautiful family are in my heart and prayers. I will remember his love for life and the ways he loved to do things to make others laugh... to lighten the day. I send my love to you, too.

Max J. Paape, a great scientist but higher person. Bright, sharp, terrible funny and open minded. To work under your supervision was a huge honor; to publish some manuscript about somatic cells with you was the top of my career but the greatest of all was to share you and your family company, what a real pleasure! Isabel, Antonio Jr and myself will never, ever, forget you. Rest in peace my friend, my colleague, my master. Our best feelings for Sue and the rest of the family from Contreras Family in Spain.

Max brought the world together in his work, teaching, science and life. Each of his students is a testament to his all encompassing passion for giving. This "Tower of the Americas" will stay in the hearts of all the lives he has touched. I am so grateful to be a member of his family so honored to know and learn from a brilliant scientist, true friend and mentor. My thoughts and prayers are with Sue and the family and all his student's and friends with love and gratitude - "To live in the hearts e leave behind is not to die " Millie
