OWUYAW YAW ADU (Age 69)
On Sunday, December 25, 2016, of Laurel, MD originally from Ghana. Beloved husband of 46 years to Mary Mack Adu; loving father of Sanders L. Adu; expectant grandfather to twin boys. Brother of Elizabeth (Betty) Adu, Esq. of Arlington, VA, Dr. Dwomoa Adu of Accra, Ghana and the late Martin A. Adu; also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In 1968, Mr. Adu graduated with honors from Harvard University with a BS in Applied Physics and Engineering. Mr. Adu also pursued graduate studies in Geophysics at Cal Tech. He worked as a senior geophysicist for the Chevron Corporation for 33 years. Relatives and friends may visit Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Thursday, January 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Celebration of Life will take place at St John Baptist Church, 9055 Tamar Drive, Columbia, MD 21045 on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Interment to occur immediately following at Columbia Memorial Park, 12005 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD. Dear Mary and Sanders:
My heart is aching for you and the entire Adu family. I hope that the many wonderful memories of Nana Yaw will sustain you through these difficult days. He was one of the kindest and most pleasant people I have known. Such a gentleman. I will never forget his kindness and generosity to me and to my family. May God grant Nana Yaw eternal rest, and may you find comfort in the knowledge that he lived a good life, touched many lives, and will always be remembered with love and respect and admiration.
