PETER FISHER Obituary

PETER B. FISHER
On Sunday, March 30, 2014 of Kensington, MD. Beloved husband of Mary McGregor Fisher for 34 years; father of Patrick (fiancée, Leah Legere) and James Fisher; brother of Gordon, John, Tom, and Paul Fisher; son of the late James and Kathleen Fisher; son-in-law of Mary Grace and the late William J. McGregor; also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends. He passed away after a long and hard-fought battle with lung cancer. A native of Silver Spring, MD, Peter graduated from St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. After graduation, he attended The University of Notre Dame, completing studies in Civil Engineering before obtaining his Master's Degree from George Washington University. He then entered the working world at Bechtel Corp. and ultimately ended up as the Supervisor of Construction for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, VA; a position that he has held for 28 years. Peter loved and was devoted to his work for the church until his death. He took pride in knowing that his work played an important role in bringing others into the Catholic faith community. Among the things most important to Peter was a strong family life and he leaves behind those who he loved most with cherished memories of the time spent together and the values of faith and family. Relatives and friends may call at Caulfield Hall located off lower level of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, 9601 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD on Friday, April 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Church on Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. I first met Peter in 1987 while working on Good Shepherd Church as a general contractor and our paths crossed many times over the years. I enjoyed our conversations and his sense of fairness in dealing with others. He was a true gentleman and will be missed. God bless Peter and his family.

I became friends with Pete through some mutual acquaintances I met in Dewey Beach in the late 70s'. He had a great sense of humor and I never heard him use a disparaging word about anyone ! A good Christian and family man who will be sorely missed.

I was Pete's friend in Morrissey Hall '69-71. He was a gentleman and a scholar; and now I know why I have been thinking of him of late. I know he would have a great family who loved and respected him much, and I feel your suffering. Sorry for your trouble.
