I knew him from Camp Robin Hood from 1967-69. He was a force of nature, one of a kind.

I am in a state of shock over the passing of Rob. I was wondering last Christmas when I did not hear from Rob. Rob was an alumnus of the Universitya of Miami and at the time I met Rob I was the athletic dirctor. He came up with an idea to approach and have Niki provide all of our athletic teams and Rob went to Nike and we were one of the first schools Nike did this type of business with. Rob was a wonderful person who touched the lives of many people He made a difference. He will be missed but never forgotten. May his memory be eternal. My condolences to this two sons and grandmother. Sam Jankovich

I attended Camp Robin Hood from 1960 through 1963. "Elephant" Ades was in my year. I fondly remember his quirky personality and his enthusiasm for Robin Hood, Frankly I am shocked at his early demise.

I only knew him briefly, from Camp Robin Hood in 1968. I was 12, he must have been 20, the campers he led that year were probably 16. Those are big age differences when you're a pre-teen. I did not play his sport (water polo at that time). I was just a quiet, scared kid, yet somehow he knew who I was and was always nice to me.
He had charisma, even at that young age. If only I had known back then that he was someone you could talk to about your issues.
Rest in peace.

Mr. Ades served the DC Corrections work force for years through his firm, Ades and Associates. He was always quick to respond personally when requested. We will miss him.

Long before Rob's grand daughter was born, my young son sensed, in his innocent way of looking at life, that Rob had the heart of someone who loved and cared in a way that was very special.
Rob came to our house on one of his many visits, and spent a big block of time with my two boys. When he left, my four year old son asked, "Is Rob anyone's Poppy?" I said, "No, not yet." My son replied, "Then we need to make him our Poppy Rob, because he's a good as any other Poppy out there."
Unless you are actually a grandparent, it's hard to understand how much this says about Rob. Being viewed as a Poppy, by a child who isn't actually your grandchild, speaks volumes about you. It's the purest compliment you could ever get, and my son was one hundred percent on the money. Since that day, Rob has been, and will always be, Poppy Rob. We love you.
