To the Burke Family,

Roger was first my business associate and finally, and, most importantly, my friend. He always had a smile on his face. A smile that beamed with the kindness and joy that existed within him. And often, that smile accompanied some joke or story that would make whomever he was speaking with laugh. Those are the things I will miss most about Roger, but that I will also always remember. He made me smile, he made me laugh, he made me happy. He will be missed.

To the Burke Family,

Roger was one of the kindest, most generous people I have had the pleasure to work with. I will miss his sharp wit and sense of humor. I will miss his smile and the light he brought to the OIG.

Jennifer, Aunt Myrtle, Beverly-
We are saddened to learn of Roger's passing. I have fond memories of the time he and I got together when I was in DC on a recruiting trip for Russell Sage College. We laughed, swapped stories of our youth and family get togethers and enjoyed a great meal. I was thrilled to learn that he enjoyed reading the genealogy research I compiled on the family. He fought a long battle and was triumphant for a long time. God called him home and now it's time for Roger to enjoy a well deserved and peaceful rest. Heartfelt condolences to all of you. Cherish his memory and he'll be with you always.

Dear Mrs. Burke, Beverly, Kathleen, Jennifer, and all the family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences in your loss of Roger. I'm sorry I wasn't able to be at his memorial service. I met Roger when I came to work at the Labor Department as a young attorney. I sat in his division of the Solicitor's Office (i.e., the Civil Rights Division) for my first two weeks, until I received my permanent assignment. During those weeks, Roger was friendly, helpful, and encouraging. After I left his division, over the years, Roger and I would chit chat in the hallways of DOL if we happened to run into each other. He was like an older brother to me and let me know that he was available should I need his help or counsel. I always appreciated that kindness very much.

Roger was a good man. I know that this is a great loss and that Roger will be deeply missed. I have been keeping you all in my daily prayers and you will continue to be there for some time. May each of you come through this difficult season with a profound awareness of God's presence and His love for you.

I met Roger at GW in 1968. We lived at Welling Hall, which is long gone. We partied, played a lot of pick-up hoops, and studied enough to get through. Amazingly, we both became lawyers. I moved back to York, Pa, my hometown, but we kept in touch and remained good friends.. Jack Nargil called and informed me of Roger's death. I was deeply saddened. I will miss you, Bro.
