RUTH VERONICA FARRELL (Age 92)  
On Thursday, June 23, 2016 of Rockville, MD, Ruth Farrell, wife, mother, granny and dear friend to all passed away peacefully due to an aging heart. She was born July 22, 1923 in Fall River, Massachusetts to John and Ida Fitzgerald. She married her long-time childhood friend, Joseph Farrell, in April of 1947 who preceded her in death in 2007. While a New Englander at heart, Ruth adopted all things Washington DC, after moving here with her husband in 1948 making this her home for 68 years.  She loved reading, sports, travel and knitting. She held tight to her independence and self-reliance and led with kindness and love. But Ruth''s real and abiding passions were her family and friends. Ruth instilled in her children a strong work ethic and moral compass, a commitment to family and friends, and the power of a smile.  Ruth is survived by her son and wife, Joseph and Cris; and her daughter and husband, Kathleen and Robert; grandchildren, Michael Farrell, Steve Farrell, Julie Farrell Parker, Christopher Tynan and Patrick Tynan; plus 10 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Gertrude Deda. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.  Please help us celebrate her life Wednesday evening June 29, 2016 between 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, MD.
