SARAH MOORE Obituary

Sarah Frances Moore
On Wednesday, September 2, 2015, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of 65 years to the late Bernard Joseph Moore "Barney;" mother of Brian (Sally) Moore and Bernice (Ray) Weise; grandmother of Kelly Nowottnick, Colleen Eccles, Alexander Moore and Paul Weise. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Barney, her parents, Martin and Sarah Curley and four brothers and sisters. Mrs. Moore was born in Newbridge, County Galway, Ireland. At the age of twenty-three she sailed from Ireland to New York where she joined her two sisters. While residing in New York she worked at St. Francis Hospital and General Electric. In 1947, she married Barney and took up residence in Forest Hills, New York. They were members of Our Lady of the Angelus Catholic Church where the children attended school and Frances served as President of the Catholic Women's Society. Her husband's leadership position with The Hilton Corporation brought the family to Washington, DC. Mrs. Moore continued her volunteer efforts at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and School in Silver Spring, MD and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Later, Frances retired from Citizens Bank of Maryland. Frances and Barney were ardent bridge players and loyal Redskins fans. Frances was a woman of deep Catholic faith and loved her family more than life itself. A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 with entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

Nana was a gracious and loving woman. There was never a day when she did not have smile on her face. She showed everyone love and respect. Her charisma lightened everyone's mood. Nana was a wonderful grandmother and will truly be missed.

Nana was a wonderful and loving women, who always had a smile on her face. She showed everyone love and respect. There was never a day I witnessed a frown on her face. The love she shared, lightened everyone around her. Nana, you will truly be missed.

Grandma was quick to say "God bless you," "God love you," and "I love you." Her love of God and her love of family ran very deep. That love of God and family has helped shape the lives of her children and grandchildren, and that love will have a ripple effect, shaping the lives of future generations as well. I know I am a better person for having known and loved my grandmother, Frances Moore!
