On Wednesday, October 29, 2014, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Claire Dewey; father of Wayne (Kate) Dewey, Anne (Douglas) Berry, Brian (Shirley) Dewey, Ellen O'Brien and Kevin (Marjorie) Dewey; grandfather of Kevin, Sean, Nicole, Kaitlin, Ryan, Thomas, Cameron, Aidan, and Lydia. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, November 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, Norbeck & Muncaster Mill Roads, Rockville, MD, on Monday, November 3, at 10:30 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. On behalf of my family, I offer my condolences to the entire Dewey family. A lot of great childhood memories were made with Uncle Bill, Aunt Claire, and all my cousins. I will always cherish those moments in time, for as we know, they are all too short for this world.

Mr. Dewey was great man. I remember the stories he would tell while sitting in the slate floor room off the kitchen. One story I remember to this day. A bunch of friends went up to NYC to party it up at a hotel. They were drinking the finest whiskey and having a grand ole time. They charged everything to the room but it became apparent they didn't have a nickel between them to pay the bill which was growing ever larger. There solution was to call there deep pocket friend ( Bill) and tell him he needs to get up here asap, he's missing the party of the year. Woman, booze, gambling, your missing out. Bill immediately gets in the car and makes double time to NYC. Upon his arrival he's excited to see his friends. " Thank for coming Bill, have a drink, we've got to get going, if you could cover the check that would be great."
Rest in Peace, Mr. Dewey.

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Bill's passing. I remember him when I was young, as just a really fun Uncle, and loved when he would come to our house, also remember his dog Doc. I know that he will be deeply missed by his family.
