Joe was a unique, one-in-a-million, guy. We could not have managed for one minute when the RR was crowded and the films arrived in multiple tubs to be sorted and prepared for viewers. No small task, that. He did his work with humor, enjoyment, and hummed all the while. He made everyone smile - or roll their eyes - who else had such a consistently positive demeanor? We love ya Joe. So sorry to learn of Joe's passing. He was a very kind person who was very helpful to me when I was learning the ropes at the Library of Congress. He loved filming the staff holiday parties and archiving them. We will miss him.

Zachary was known as "Joe" to his many colleagues in the Library of Congress Motion Picture Section. Over several decades as a member of the Reference staff, Joe served the researchers who came to the LoC to look at prints and videos of historic movies and TV programs. From beginning students of cinema to the most august film professors, Joe assisted everyone equally with friendship and dedication. The testimony to his greatness as a public servant will live on in the dedications to the many theses and books he helped make possible.
