Footman, Betty Jean, 67, passed away peacefully at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD with family present on Thursday, February 1, 2018. In 2005, Betty retired as a Correctional Officer from the District of Columbia Jail while obtaining the rank of Corporal with over 22 years of public service. Betty leaves to cherish her memory: her father, Aeron Footman of Washington, DC; two sons, Maurice (Basseyanwan) Footman of Riverdale, MD, and Melvin Jones, Jr. of Washington, DC; three daughters, Daisel "Dee-Dee" Footman of Alexandria, VA; Velissa Jones of Springfield, VA, and Latisha (Eric) Chapman of Woodbridge, VA; four brothers, Aeron "Butch" Footman II of Washington, DC, Lawrence "Larry" Footman of Suitland, MD, Andy and Ricky Footman of Washington, DC; two sisters, Veronica "Ronnie" and Beverly Footman of Washington, DC; and nine grandchildren. Betty is also survived by several relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother and both her maternal and paternal grandparents. Services will be held at Highview Christian Fellowship, 4100 Hunt Road, Fairfax, VA 22032, on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Viewing Service will be held from 10-11am, and Funeral Service will begin at 11 am, and the Eulogy with be delivered by Bishop Phillip O. Thomas of Highview Christian Fellowship.
