He was born January 16, 1934 in Wausau to the late Daniel and Veronica (Haelke) Westcott. Dick was a graduate of Wausau High School and attended UW-Marathon County. He served as a gunnery sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and upon his return served 8 years in the Marine Corps Reserve. Dick married Darlene Glasel on September 10, 1959. He served as president of the Wausau Area Personnel Club, was in Jaycees, and also a very active member of the Wausau Elk's Lodge, serving as Exalted Ruler and Chairman of the Trustees. He received an Elk of the Year award and he and Darlene received Couple of the Year award.
He had many interests including stamp collecting, flower gardening, putting together puzzles, golfing and cooking gourmet Sunday brunches for his family. He especially enjoyed fishing and making woodworking projects with his grandchildren. Dick was a voracious reader whose favorite authors included Webb Griffin, Lee Child and Tom Clancy. He and his son exchanged books weekly.
His quiet strength touched many hearts.

Our business rented space from Dick in "The Westcott Building" in Rib Mountain for many years. Dick was a warm hearted, easy-going guy...and a "foodie" as we remember. We recently compared recipe card files and discovered that we both still make Dick's famous "Singapore Chicken Wings" for family events! Our heartfelt sympathy to Darlene, Darla, Darcy and the rest of the Westcott family. Dick was one of a kind. Maggie Schoenfeld and Carey Hoffman Abel

Our prayers and thoughts are with you Darlene, Darcey and Family. Our deepest condolences. Dave and I were honored to have known Mr. Wescott. He always had a hug, a smile, and a handshake for us at the Elks Lodge. He was so very loved by his family and friends and we were blessed to call him Brother. We are so sorry we will not be there in person for the services but know we are there in spirit. I am so happy we got to chat when we were in WI in December and we always enjoyed his company. Love Mary and Dave Dohe
