Hubert Yenter Obituary

Hubert Yenter

Hubert S. Yenter, Wittenberg, passed away early Sunday morning, December 22, 2013 at Homme Home of Wittenberg under Aspirus Hospice Care. He was born on March 26, 1931 in the Town of New Hope, Portage County, son of the late Andrew and Pearl (Koziczkowski) Yenter.

Hubert was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1952 to 1954. He served his country in the Western Air Defense in Communications at Fort Lewis near Tacoma, WA during the Korean War.

On August 27, 1955, Hubert was united in marriage to Theresa Wisinski at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stevens Point. The couple lived in Milwaukee, settling in Germantown for more than 30 years until moving to Wittenberg. Hubert made his career as a heavy equipment operator in the Milwaukee area for 35 years until his retirement in 1993, a career that he was very proud of. He was a lifetime member of Operating Engineers Local 139. Hubert was especially proud of the large family he came from. Music was an important part of family life that was passed down to him. He sang, played guitar and yodeled. Hubert loved to entertain people. He passed his love of music on to his daughter and granddaughters.

Hubert is survived by his wife, Theresa of Wittenberg; one daughter, Brenda (David) Flees; two granddaughters, Holly (Henry) Osterbrink, and Heather Flees; two great-grandchildren, Simon Flees and Nora Osterbrink, all of Galloway; three sisters, Rita Shalewski, Galloway, Char Kranski-Peterson, Chandler, AZ, and Patricia (John) Vander Koy, Eland; five brothers, Robert (Marian), Saukville, Daniel (Linda) and William, all of Elderon, Frederick (Karen), Galloway, and James (Mari) Hatley, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Pearl; in-laws, Alois and Margaret Wisinski; seven brothers, David, Chester, Conrad, Andrew, Jr., Jerome, Joseph, and Roger; two sisters, Ramona (Bauer), and Theresa (Wanta), five brothers-in-law, one nephew, and two nieces.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Galloway. Deacon David Ashenbrenner will preside. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Full military honors will be conducted by the Bloecher-Johnson American Legion Post #502 following the service. Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg is assisting the family with arrangements. The family guestbook and condolences are available at schmidtschulta.com.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Aspirus Hospital and Hospice Care, and Homme Home of Wittenberg, for the care and concern provided to our dear husband, father, and grandfather during these past few months.
