Steven Herzog
Steven Dennis Herzog, 61, Wausau, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 in Wausau.
Steve was born April 18, 1952 in Wausau to Dennis and Marion (Nowak) Herzog. He married Jenice Cameron on November 25, 1972 in Storm Lake, IA. Steve worked hard to provide for his family as an over the road trucker delivering homes for Wausau Homes and for the past 2 years doing line work with Crystal Finishing.
Steve was a kind and thoughtful man who was a good role model for his children, teaching them the worth of an honest day's work and saving for the future. His friendly, outgoing nature quickly made him friends wherever he went and Steve would never hesitate to help others when they were in need. Over the years Steve enjoyed fishing and hunting, but he especially enjoyed spending time in his garden growing bountiful crops of vegetables. In his free time, Steve liked to watch NASCAR and go to races; he was also a good Wisconsin native son cheering on the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jenice; children, Jon (Sadie O'Dell) Herzog and Tami (Clinton Jacobi) Herzog; daughter-in-law, Tina Herzog; grandchildren, Kyann, Skyla and Samara; father and step-mother, Dennis and Marge Herzog; sister, Denise Hawley; half-sister, Robin (Kent) Downing; step-siblings, Jean (Dennis) Weisenberger, Sandy (Gary) Utecht and Randy (Joy) Happli; and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Troy Herzog; mother, Marion Nowak; maternal grandparents, Helen and Ted Nowak; and paternal grandparents, Joe and Minnie Herzog.
Services will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 31 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Pastor Aaron Winowiski will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a gathering following the service at the Eagles Club with a potluck meal to celebrate Steve's life. You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I spent a lot of time with steve up north, my cabin is across the street, he was a good friend, and I will think of him every time I head to the north woods. I will remember the days of hunting with him and his best friend bud,, and the great fun at the hunting shack!,,,

Uncle Dennis and Jenice and family - Praying that God be with during this difficult time. I am truly going to miss hearing cousin Steve's voice on the other end of the phone and our conversation when we were young. Be kind to yourselves. Love you all.
