This saddens my heart to hear he has left our beautiful earth. Dr Johannes was and will always be the best veteranarian. It was always a pleasure to see him come to the farm for a sick animal or whatever our cows may needed . When he retired he opened his own little vet hospital on his farm and if it wasn't for him my precious kitty would not have survived and I remember how amazing he was with working with those who were tight on cash. He had such a big heart. My heart goes out to his children and grandchildren. Forever he will remain in my heart as one great man who made a huge difference in our world.

Loved talking with Doc Johannes about jersey cows when he came to the farm. He had some great ones and he enjoyed working with mine. We shared a lot of laughs even on his gruff days. Sorry for your loss.

I lost a 4 decades long friend, friendship, neighbor, and the best Veterinarian anyone could hope to have, this past Saturday. You knew our children and let them frolic in the dairy barn way back when. You knew and cared for every four legged child Gail and I have ever been blessed with. You were a good person and a great American my friend. Missing you already. Peace to you, Ralph, Mark, Sarah Jayne and your grandchildren.

The Carlson Family sends heartfelt condolences as Gene took care of our 4 monster dogs (George, Ed, Zeke, and Rosco). He was always supportive of our "rescues," down to earth in every way, and always had a funny or slightly sarcastic comment! Rest in peace, Gene...
