So sad to hear that the one man that got me a paddling from the principle is gone. Mr. Hunter was a good teacher and I will always remember the day I was paddled for making an X in black marker across his head, even though it was an accident. He had every reason to be upset. I cherish those memories and will miss him sadly.

Al Hunter was my music teacher for 7 years, beginning with the 6th grade through high school at Payson. "Uncle Al" shared his love of music and life with all of his students. So many of my high school memories involve music and Mr. Hunter. Rest in peace Uncle Al and may God wrap his arms around your family and comfort them during this difficult time.

Mr. Hunter was the band director at Christian Brothers when I was a sophomore...Notre Dame girls had to go to CB for band back then. He was pretty cool, too.

Now he is in God's band in Heaven with Carl Landrum, Charlie Winking, John Spurier and other great Quincy musicians. RIP Mr. hunter.
