Fern Plunk Obituary

Mrs. Fern M. Plunk, 89, of Quincy died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday (April 13, 2013) in Osage Beach, Mo.

Born Feb. 4, 1924, in Leadville, Colo., Fern was a daughter of Avener and Madelyn Fitzpatrick Hoskins. She married Clifford Plunk on Aug. 16, 1941, in Doniphan, Mo. He died Sept. 20, 1986.

Fern graduated from Doniphan High School and was a lifetime member of the Quincy PTA. She enjoyed camping, gardening, china painting, quilting and making ornamental stepping stones and benches. She was devoted to her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Fern was employed as a cook at Monroe and Mound schools in Quincy for several years until her retirement.

Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie J. Satterfield of Rocky Mount, Mo.; four sons, Clifford E. Plunk Jr. (Shirley) of Quincy, Don L. Plunk (Brenda) of Rushville, Steve J. Plunk (Lu) of Liberty and Ron Plunk (Rosie) of Quincy; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harold D. Hoskins and Rod Hoskins, both of Quincy; one sister, Gertrude "Trudy" Morton of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Plunk was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Connie Walker, Nancy Boone and Madelyn May Hoskins; six brothers, Donald, Forrest, Maynard, Bernard, Jerry and Gene Hoskins; and a great-granddaughter, Neva Howlett.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Dennis conducting. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery near Plainville.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and until time of services Thursday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: The Crossing Church, 929 Monroe.

ARRANGEMENTS: Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

Ronnie Clifford Bonnie Donnie and Steve, I am so sorry I missed being with you to celebrate what a wondeful mother you had.
