Mavis was my cousin. I am so sorry to hear of her passing as I was unable to reach her at Christmas believing she was still in Quincy. She was a mentor in my life and shall always be remembered as a bright light who lead the way for those who were unable to. May God Bless her and may she light the way for the rest of us on this journey.Mavis' spirit was unequalled.

We, the members of St Elizabeth of Hungary Fraternity of Quincy, Illinois just learned today of Mavis' passing. I had tried to locate her at Christmas without success. Although I did not know her personally, she was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order, and as such, will be remembered at our annual Memorial Mass in November (2016) at St Francis Solannus Parish.

From what I read below by her neighbor, she sounds like she was a delightful person. I am so sorry we missed that. May she rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.

Mavis was my neighbor growing up and she was a wonderful person full of life, love and wisdom. I wish I could be there for the Funeral today to honor her memory. May she have a wonderful eternity and we on this earth are definitely on the losing end of this deal. Her life of service without regard to finances towards her fellow man serving the poor for decades is a inspiration to me.
