Good afternoon. I would like to extend my sincerest thanks on behalf of the family for attending today's services for my Uncle Lupe Lujan. Although it is hard to bear such a great loss, we are all comforted by the fact that he is now at peace.
My Uncle Lupe was and will always be one of the greatest men I will ever come to know. His personality was larger than life. You knew the exact moment, when Uncle Lupe came into a room, because all you heard was laughter. He had strong beliefs in everything and imposed great words of wisdom, whether you asked for them or not. His heart was as big as he was and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone he knew. He was a true craftsman, he could build anything and fix everything. I cannot recall how many times I called him and said "fix it" which he normally responded with "huh...what...sorry I am moving to Chicago", but yet he was always there.
His deep love of family is what I will remember most. He reminded all of us that no matter what the circumstances were, family is the most important thing in life and to always cherish that feeling. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and Uncle. It was evident, in the way you saw him interact with his wife Terry and his sons, Bob, Richard, Ralph and Junior, or his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers and sisters and all of his nieces and nephews.
His accomplished much is his life. He proudly served in the Army and Army National Guard. He worked for the Los Angeles School District for many years and after realizing how important education really was, he graduated high school at the age of 51. He loved to go camping and later in life, loved going to Laughlin.
If you asked my Uncle Lupe what he loved most in his life, he would simply reply, my beautiful wife, Terry. My Tia Terry was and always will be the true love of his life. For the past 52 years, the love those two shared was something that all of us can only aspire to have. The way his face would light up when she entered a room, or the way his eyes would twinkle when he gently teased her just so she would smile was something beautiful to watch. He loved to make her laugh, and he always reminded her everyday how much he loved her, his honey, his corazon, his life. His love for my Tia Terry was deep, as long as she was by his side, he could accomplish anything. Watching them together was truly a joy, the way he held her hand where ever they went, or the way she would look up at him and smile, her Honitos, and kiss him gently, made my heart melt.
Uncle Lupe, although it will be hard to imagine life without you here, your spirit lives on in all of us. The memories you have imprinted in our hearts will keep you alive forever and I will always know how very blessed I was to have you in my life.
God bless you, my dear Uncle and please continue to watch over us and keep us safe. I love you more than you can possibly imagine and just for you, just for today, I encourage all of us to "play on the freeway" in your memory.

Grandpa - I love you and miss you more than words can say. I will miss your "bully" jokes. The phrase "Hey go play on the freeway".....or "I'll see u in the funny papers" Your truly the only one who understood where I was coming from in all my trials in life. Whether you agreed with me or tried to show me the way by your love and guidance. I'm so glad I saw you, hugged you, kissed you and told you how much I loved you and you told me u Loved me too. Those 3 little words "I Love You" at the end of all our conversations I'll treasure the rest of my life. I love you Grandpa!!! Till we meet again.....I Love you.
We will miss you Grandpa and tata. We love you very much

My dearest Uncle Lupe, you are the father I never had and there are no words that can express how much I love and adore you. You have brought so much joy in my life and I am so glad I was able to tell you all of this before you left us. Thank you for showing me true love and making me feel so special and loved, thank you for all of the times when I felt lost, you picked me back up and showed me the way. Thank you for allowing me to have a role model for marriage, and showing me the true meaning of love. I am so beyond fortunate to have had you in my life for as long as I did and although I want to be selfish and keep you around so much longer, I understand that you had to go. I promise you that we will all take care of Tia, the love of your life...this I promise you, now and always. I love you Pops..rest in peace and give Grandma a kiss for me.
Dear Lujan and Perea family, Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Lupe. I did not know him very well but his stepson Bob was a member of my family as are his grand children and great grand children. Our families have seen our share of grief these past several months and hearing of Lupe's passing was a very sorrowful moment for me...my prayers are with everyone at this time and I pray that we will all find comfort in the Lord and remember that He keeps all of his promises. May God wrap His loving arms around all of us.
