Stella Religa Obituary
She was 96 when she passed away on March 14 in hospice care, officials said.
In 1977, Religa and her friend, Barbara Gile, cofounded the Women's and Children's Crisis Shelter in Whittier to address domestic violence, which was just becoming an issue known to the general public.

I have known Stella for 25 years..I was her hairdresser...we, in a sense, have grown old together. Words that describle Stella are sweet kind freespirited intelligent gifted strong always willing to help the many people of this world with her strong advice and kindness..when she goes up to the universe and sees god he won't have to ask her what did you do for humanity Stella because he will have a smile on his face and he'll tell her thank you...by the way..she loved donuts...
