Jack was my freshman coach in the Fall of 1958. He became head coach in the Spring and was my coach for the next 3 years. Jack's influence on me and so many others cannot be overestimated. His "can do" attitude was his hallmark. My appreciation for his guidance and friendship throughout my life cannot be overemphasized. His 70 year dedication to rowing and MIT will never be duplicated. Diane and I send our sincere condolences to Jean and his family. Chet Riley MIT '62

A gentle man with a sharp mind and a good soul that will be fondly remembered. Rest in peace my friend, it has been a pleasure!

I only knew Jack for a brief time at Southgate, but we shared a love of rowing and had good times together.

Jack was a unique individual -- innovative coach, great mentor, loved by all those who had the opportunity to know him. Jesse Lipcon '65, MIT Crew coxswain
