I will miss Ellen's spunk and enthusiasm. I will miss her pride in her father's and brother's accomplishments -- William Roger Greeley, architect and significant builder and steward of Star Island; Roly Greeley, city planner and significant leader and steward of Star; and Dana Greeley, esteemed UU minister, lifetime Shoaler, and president of the American Unitarian Association, then first president of the conjoined Unitarian Universalist Association.
I loved the byplay between Ellen and her twin sister Ann Dutka. I love the care and interest she had in the lives of her children and extended family.
I loved the interest and attention she gave to younger people, like me. As an editor, I appreciated how she as an editor cherished and stood up for precise and well-made language.
I loved the affection and caring spirit that she and her second husband, Carlton Warren, shared.
I loved her zest for life and her bright bird-like spirit. I am so grateful I knew her and will have her alive in my heart.
