I just learned of Harvey's passing. I worked with Harvey at NSO for 3 years. He was a wonderful contract's manager! With a very wry sense of humor, but strong commitment to the job. It was a fantastic pleasure to have worked with him.

I just heard of Harvey's passing from another friend. Harvey and I were close childhood friends. We lost touch after high school but I was fortunate to speak with him about 3 years ago when he found me on Facebook. We had a wonderful talk for at least an hour. My sincerest condolences to his family.

While writing my personal history that included my having lunch at Korat RTAFB with his father, Sam, I made contact with Harvey. We have maintained contact for about eighteen months through telephone and e-mail. I told Harvey about working with his Father on the MRC-107 and later marveling as Sam showed me his Thunderchief-105 the afternoon before his last flight. I was at the Officer's club on the day he was killed and talked to other flyers about his last mission.
Although I only knew Harvey long distance, we shared some poignant thoughts. I feel a loss at his passing. Harvey was a sensitive and accomplished man.
If any family member wishes to communicate with me further, please contact me via e-mail: [email protected]
With heartfelt condolences, Richard Nelson

I didn't know Harvey all that well, but we developed a relationship after his surgeries. I visited him a few times at his home, which is rare for me. I was amazed at how meticulous he was with his ship and model building. He was very proud of those accomplishments. He showed me a closet filled with models yet to be built and asked me did he have enough time left to build me one. That's a hard question to answer. I told him to live hard everyday and if that was part of the plan, then good for me.

He is one of my patients who I will never forget.

Godspeed Harvey...

Jim Balserak, MD (his surgeon)
