Jean,
Norm is in my heart. A cheerful expression and uplifting comment at MDIF.
May his memory be eternal.

Norm hired me at Sea Grant in Nov. 1978 to write an ocean engineering newsletter, a job I hadn't applied for because I lacked the required engineering degree. This led to a very happy 40-year writing career at MIT, first at Sea Grant and then in two other departments. I've always been grateful to him for that essential first opportunity.

And while I have never invested in the Japanese stock market, I still have an autographed copy of his book on the subject.

Jean,
First our condolences to you and your families. We have missed Norm at FUSN bridge and will miss not conversing with him about MIT and sailling. He was always so welcoming. We are thinking of you.

Our sincere condolences to the Doelling family. Norm was a fine man, a great shipmate on our first Bermuda race, and a great contributor to MDIF. He will be sorely missed by all his many friends and colleagues.
