George was an amazing role model of how a life should be lived. I enjoyed all the Christmas parties with the family years ago and always looked up to George. Anne, you had a great husband and family. Billy and Ed, sorry about the loss of your brother but he's in a far better place. Condolences to all and best wishes to the extended family from myself and Joan.

deep sympathies for Anne and family in your great loss. George was a philosopher and friend to many of us. He lit up visions we could not have managed ourselves and extended our lives. I owe a lot to George who helped me at difficult times and generously shared his love of folk music, of opportunities and the help from those in his network. A world figure with a beguiling simplicity and humility while having the strength to stick to his guns when it mattered. Vale Dear George.

To meet George once is to remember him forever, I think. I first worked with George in the 1970s. His kindness and deep understanding of the social/political issues underlying the specific questions in his field, brought light & often, resolution to meeting after meeting and beyond. Thanks to his family for sharing their beloved husband, dad, grandfather with the world, and heartfelt sympathy on his passing from this Middle Earth.

Great man. George was the consummate academic. Leading by example. Showing what was possible. Always fighting the good fight for equity in schools. Ed Fierros ERME '99
