Gary McWilliams Obituary

Mr. Gary Andrew McWilliams, a former resident of Mountain Lakes, N.J. and Hopkinton, M.A. and recently of Dennis, M.A. died unexpectedly on March 13, 2018. Gary was born on April 26, 1960 in Boonton Township, N.J. to the late Eleanor McWilliams Dante and the late Roger Weil McWilliams. He attended Mountain Lakes High School and Boston University and spent his career as a manufacturers representative for the metal working products, aerospace and power generation industries. He was President of McWilliams Associates North. Gary was predeceased by his parents and brother Stephen Craig McWilliams. He is survived by the lights of his life, his son Declan Roger McWilliams and daughter Emma Claire McWilliams, as well as siblings Roger (Linda), Susan, Peter (Dina) and Scott (Nancy) McWilliams, ten nieces and nephews and a much loved dog, Gracie, all of whom adored him. Garys complete devotion to and love of his children Emma and Dec was as boundless as was his pride in their accomplishments. Gary possessed such a passion for life that every experience seen through his eyes became bigger, better and much more entertaining. He was extremely intelligent had an uncanny mental ability to retain facts, both important and not so much. Gary was a movie and sports lover and his dedication to his beloved New York Yankees and Giants was absolute and wavered somewhere between jubilation and wrath, but, no one ever doubted that he was their biggest fan. The youngest sibling in the family, Gary always took it upon himself to make sure that everyone in the room was having a good time. His storytelling was legendary, his impressions hysterical and his laughter was hopelessly contagious. He was simply one of the funniest human beings that ever lived. Gary had a once-in-a lifetime heart of gold that he shared with everyone and a tremendous hug that will be sorely missed. Friends and family members may attend a celebration of life service at a time and place to be announced at a later date but for now go out and have a good time with loved ones, thinking of Gary and always remembering his guiding philosophy that fun is always the best thing to have!

Gary you were a great & fun coach back in the mid 70s. You and I think Doug Heller were coaches back in the day at Fanny field. I remembered your positive words and that smile weather it was a win or loss a true friend and a neighbor in the Village back in the days.
