Sharon was a wonderful friend and supporter for the loose group of writers living in and around Truro. I thank her by name in the acknowledgement section of my forthcoming book, “The Brothers.” She was always willing to find obscure books I needed in my research, and would even send me notices of fellowships for which she thought I might apply. Sharon not only found a way to live the life of the mind out at the end of our glorious sandbar; she also did work that strengthened the local community and raised its cultural level. She was a lover of books, of knowledge, and of life. It is no accident that she was so successful in recruiting authors to speak at the library. We cared for her, we admired her, and now we deeply miss her.
