Donald J. Comeau, Sr. of Sandwich died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the age of 72, surrounded by his family after a heroic battle with cancer. Born in Cohasset on February 11, 1941, he was the son of the late Emedee J. and Anna G. Comeau of Hingham, MA. Don was the beloved husband of Beverly (Leed) Comeau, married 46 years. He is survived by his four children: Donald J. Comeau, Jr., David J. Comeau, Kimberly A. Comeau and Aimee Elizabeth Comeau; three grandchildren: Madison T. Cajuelan, Anthony Comeau Cajuelan and Alison Tucceri; two great grandchildren and two nieces. Don graduated from Boston College with a degree in Accounting and was Captain of the Boston College R.O.T.C. He served as a Captain in the US Army Infantry Division and US Army Reserve. Don became a Certified Public Accountant and retired from Logistics Management Inc. in Fall River. He was a member of the Cape Cod Mustang Club and participated in car shows throughout Cape Cod with his 1968 California Special Mustang and 1966 Mustang convertible. His fondest memories were driving the 1968 California Special through 48 states and Canada with family. Route 66 became his favorite road. Don was devoted to his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his children. He was always quick to recall a story to share including the finite details. He enjoyed history and took great pride in working in his yard. Visiting hours were held from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A in Sandwich. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd., East Sandwich. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to McCarthy Care Center, in care of Hope Health, 73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537.
