Gloria M. (Stuart) White, 92, wife of the late Edgar L. White Jr., passed into eternity Sept. 20, at Signature Health Care in Graceville, Fl. where she lived since June of 2014. Born in Milford, MA., a daughter of the late Arthur L. and Violet A. (Stearns) Stuart, she lived in Mendon and Scituate, Ma. before moving to Town and Country Estates, Kingston in 1985. Gloria was a professional seamstress and taught advanced tailoring at Scituate High School. Her talents included making and altering beautifully tailored suits, coats, hats, wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She sang, played piano and organ, loved her family and her photograph books. She and her husband were members of Harbor United Methodist Church (Scituate) where Edgar served as choir director and Gloria sang in the choir. They also were members of First Trinitarian Congregational Church, Scituate. After moving to Kingston in 1985 they joined Plymouth United Methodist where they were involved in the music program. As a couple they went dancing Friday nights, and enjoyed swimming at the local fitness club. They enjoyed vacationing in the Bahamas. She leaves two sons, Edgar A. White (Julie) of Littleton, Co., Stuart L. White (Jonell) of North Kingstown, RI; a daughter who devoted time and daily care in Florida, Jessica G. Monteleone (David) of Graceville, FL.; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was mother of the late Jennifer G. Henderson and Jeffrey D. White; grandmother of the late Brian J. White and sister of the late Anita Occhiuzzo and Joyce Grubbs. A Celebration of her life will be held Monday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. at Harbor United Methodist Church, 55 First Parish Rd., Scituate.
