Thomas King Obituary

Thomas K. King, 44, of Marblehead, Massachusetts passed away suddenly on May 15, 2016. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Erinn (Walsh) King; his daughter Grace K. King and son Maxwell T. King all of Marblehead. He is also survived by his parents, Janet and Tom King of Maynard, MA; James and Marlene Kane of Swampscott, MA and his wifes parents Maggie and Bill Walsh of Marstons Mills. MA, as well as his two sisters | Lisa (King) Schiappa (Dan) of Bolton, MA and Alexandra Kane of Laconia, NH; his brother and sister-in-law Sean and Jennifer Walsh of Marstons Mills, MA and sister-in-law Jennifer Walsh of San Francisco, CA. He will be forever remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tom was born in Hartford, CT on May 17, 1971. He was raised in Maynard, Massachusetts. Tom graduated from Maynard High School (1989). He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1993 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduating with distinction. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Toms work career was extensive and varied. It began at Parametric Technology, included several startups, and for the last ten years Tom was employed by Xyratex, Inc. and Seagate Technology | Cupertino, CA. He was loved and admired by all the people he worked with. His quick wit and kind heart endeared him to anyone who met him. If you left your car in his driveway you would come back to find it washed, waxed, and vacuumed. He always had a kind gesture for everyone and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a true friend, true neighbor and real salt of the Earth. Tom adored his children and was a dedicated husband and loving father. He enjoyed skiing with his family, playing squash with friends, carpentry, golf and Crossfit. Tom loved the outdoors. His favorite summer activities were camping with family, spending time at the pool with the kids, days at the beach, and bike rides. One of his favorite all time memories as a child was taking summer vacations to Cape Cod with his grandparents- Meme and Mampie. On Sunday evenings from Spring to Fall you could always find Tom on the couch watching golf, it always put him at ease while thinking about the workweek ahead of him. He will never be forgotten and is engraved forever on the hearts of all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Saturday, May 21 at 11AM. Cremation followed by burial will be private. Erinn, Grace and Max,

My sincerest condolences on your loss. I don't need to tell you what a wonderful person Tom was and the energy and optimism that he brought into every room he entered. As I recall the years Tom worked for me, I see his smile, determination and drive to be successful in everything he did. While he definitely challenged me to be at my best some days, he always did it for the right reasons. The world is a better place because Tom gave all he had to it. May your memories of the good times carry you through the hard days. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at what I know is a very difficult time.

Rest in Peace TK..

Sincerely,
Jeff Brandes

We have lost a massively talented colleague. I can think of many occasions when TK's commercial wisdom taught me a valued lesson and often made me smile too. We have also lost a true friend whose reserved and genuine warmth, care for others and sense of humour will be greatly missed 'across the pond'.

Erinn, I pray that time will heal and the pain subside so that memories of Tom bring you only joy. He was an amazing man. He was taken from us too soon, I feel blessed to have known him.

There is an old saying about the strength of the wolf is the pack, and I think there is a lot of truth to that. On a team, it's not the strength of the individual players, but it is the strength of the unit and how they function together.

This is the saddest news, there are no words, except, so sorry for your loss. Some of my fondest memories were of Tom hosting TGIF or OTHD bar-be-ques, or of him sharing the latest home improvement project completed or listening to Tom discuss the latest book he'd read. He was also eager to hear what was going on in my life too.
Hugs go out to Grace, Max and Erinn
