Mark Evan (Jones) McCue, 59, of Swampscott, Massachusetts, beloved husband of the late Anne (Raby) McCue, died unexpectedly Monday, June 4, 2012, at home. He was born February 3, 1953, in Teaneck, New Jersey, son of the late Walter and Mary Ellen (Murphy) Jones. Mark was a 1971 graduate of Simsbury High School, Simsbury, Connecticut, and had lived in San Francisco, California, and East Hartford, Connecticut, prior to moving to Swampscott twelve years ago. Mark was a graduate of the University of Hartford, Class of 1992, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History. A fan of rock-music icons Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, Mark began playing electric guitar while in high school. He performed with several bands, as well as solo, and acquired the skills, while employed by manufacturers on both coasts, to set up, repair, and build guitars for himself and others. Mark will be remembered for his patient craftsmanship, his fondness for music of all kinds, his enjoyment of baseball, his intelligence, humor, and generosity, and his love for his wife, Anne. He is survived by his sister, Colleen Jones; his brothers, Andrew and Patrick Jones; his sisters-in-law, Kay and Mia Jones; nine nieces and nephews, including his goddaughter, Stephanie; and two great-nephews. A memorial ceremony is planned for July 18, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Marblehead Zen Center, 13 Glover Square, Marblehead, Massachusetts. A celebration of Mark's life will take place Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Parish Franciscan Center, behind the church at 31 Oak Street, Winsted, CT. A private burial took place at Swampscott Cemetery.

I only met Mark this spring when we both washed up on the beach at Marblehead Zen Center, but his dedication, kindness, generosity and "beginner's mind" will serve as inspiration to me the rest of my life. Thank you Mark, and my deep condolences to his family.

I was friends with Mark in high school, and his gentle serious "hippie" manner is what comes back in memory. My deepest condolences to all of you

Mark Jones was the first friend my brother and I had in Simsbury the summer we moved there from California. He became Don's best friend throughout their high school years. Mark introduced us to Jimmy Hendrix, Cream and other top notch rock groups. Life was richer because of him and will be poorer with him gone.

The first band that I was ever in was with Mark, Larry Holzworth, and Gary Lambert back in 1966. I'm glad that I got to see him at our 40th high school reunion.
