My and Peggy's friendship began in what may seem an unlikely way. From my home town, Los Angeles, I first telephoned her in the summer of 2006 on behalf of the National Trust for Historic Preservation to which she belonged for many years. It was my task to initiate a conversation about the reasons for her support and concerns about preservation's future. She spoke of her ancestors coming to this country on the Mayflower and her years in Arizona. We immediately bonded over our mutual love of the scent of long gone orange groves. Over the years, our conversations ranged from the Civil War, Ireland, to how much Kevin Garnet brought to the Boston Celtics. (I'm a Lakers fan.) Peggy was smart and possessed an incredibly kind and gracious spirit. The harshest thing I ever heard her say was that she "didn't think much of the Yankees." Although we never met, I will miss her and wish her family my best.

Sorry to hear about Peggy's death. She was a lovely woman.

Peggy was a blessing and dear friend to my father, Douglas Henderson, who passed July 14 in Weston. Such a kind, generous, gentle spirit. She always wanted me to bring my dogs over for a visit when I came to Weston. Love, Oscar and Lee Martinez

I was privileged to meet Peggy at the Women's Community League of Weston, when I actively joined the volunteer team in The Clothing Exchange. Peggy served so loyally and faithfully and for so many years in the children's department. So sweet, kind, and gentle, a beautiful lady. She will leave a big void in the League, and will be sorely missed. May she rest in peace. Doris T. Giamo
