Joyce PROTZ Obituary
Joyce passed away peacefully in Regina on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the age of 84. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Fanny Laurie, she is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Walter; children, Maryanne, and Rob (Arlene); sister Ethel Little; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce graduated from the Regina General Hospital as an RN, receiving an award for Obstetrics. She worked for Dr. Barry Duncan and then took a break from nursing while raising her family. She returned to nursing, first at the Plains Health Centre, and retired as a Home Care Nurse. She cared for hundreds of children on many band trips and parades as one of the nurses for the Regina Lions Band. Joyce met Walter while skating. She enjoyed skiing, dancing, swimming, gardening, baking and quilting. They were fortunate to enjoy a healthy, happy retirement together. We are thankful for the loving, compassionate care of Brightwater Senior Living this past year. The Funeral Service will be held at Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale Street, Regina, SK on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tricia Gerhard. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joyce, may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
