Myrtle Cox (Peek) better known as Mutt, went to be with our Lord on January 11, 2018 after battling the flu. She was living in Venice, Florida with her son, John and his wife Gloria.
The fifth of eleven children, Mutt was born in Lorenzo, Texas on September 22, 1921 to a share cropper family.
Mutt lived in Willits, California where she raised her four children. She lived in the Senior Retirement Community and made many friendships. She loved volunteering the Senior Center next door where she spent much of her time serving others. Mutt was especially fond of playing Bingo and card games at the Center.
In her later years she worked for Dial-A-Ride where she never met a stranger.
Mutt loved her family and was very close to her sisters. They took many wonderful trips together, even going as far as Texas to see their old homestead. She also loved the yearly family campouts and singing around the campfire.
In 2010 she moved to Florida to live with her son John and wife Gloria.
Proceeded in death by her husband Ernie and her daughter Sherrie Rackley, she is survived by her son John and Gloria, daughter Kelly of Willits, and son Phillip and his wife Phuong of Washington and sister Merle (Harry) Williamson. She leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest in the Tacoma National Cemetery in Washington with her husband.
